FINALLY!! i can update my post le!! my com had been spoilt for abt 1 week le..
haiyo!Anyway before updating, gonna wish everyone
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! =))
Hmmm.. i shall begin from last sat..
(this is gonna be a super long post..)guess quite a lot of pple had already known abt my injury le.. for those who still dun know anything abt it..
I have
fractured my left arm from falling off a bicycle while cycling. It was a really bad fall that i needed to be
hospitalised & a
surgery needs to be done to insert a metal plate & some screws to allow my bone to grow back normally. It was estimated to take abt 1 year plus time to be fully recover.
This incident happened on de 23 Dec & the surgery was supposed to be at mid-night but they didn't had a time slot to put me in. Thus they only told me that it would be the next morning on Christmas Eve. In the end, they only called my parents & told me when i was going to have the surgery soon.. like a few minutes before the nurse changes for me and the trolley comes. I was super scare at that moment cos none of my family members was there with me & they were only on their way down. A lot of thoughts went through my mind & i was controlling hard not to cry... The long way down to the operation room while lying on the trolley. The 2 malay nurses who pushed me down were speaking in malay that i couldn't understand at all. Upon reaching the operation room, the doctors & nurses that i met, spoke to me & calmed me down. The freezing atmosphere. The pain. The drowsiness...
everything seems so unbelieveable.. so un-real..Only after the surgery, when i was slightly awake from my 'sleep' & the pain was killing me and when the nurse decided that i was well enough to be pushed back to my ward, den i get to see my parents & my sis. Only by then, then i realised almost
4 hours had passed & my family had been worrying & waiting anxiously for the past 4 hours outside the operation room not knowing if everything was fine for me. After settling back to my ward, i was still feeling drowsy & vomit-ish, couldn't really talk or open my eyes. And the pain was really unbearable.
Kinda think of it now, i really can't believe i actually managed to go through this.I was being discharged the following day on the 25th. I was feeling better by then, drowsy-free & vomit-ish-free.. haha! But the pain is still there esp when the nurse undressed the cast for me.. ohmy.. And i didn't noe the cut was so long as well.. like almost 12cm. But nonetheless, getting home was so much more comfortable.
Sadly, this Christmas i had to spend my time suffering in pain in the hospital.BUT, i really had to say a
big thank you to a lot of people that went through this with me...
Thanx Val, Linhui, Sky & DD for being there for me when the incident happened.Thanx Val & Sky for bringing me to the clinic & afterwards to the hospital for X-ray & also Dd who came to the hospital after that. My
first therapy session and dressing again. was quite worried before that, but felt so much better when my therapist was quite nice. my left arm and hand were really swollen at that time, thus my joints & muscles were all so stiffed, all the way from the shoulder down to the fingers. I cant even make a half grip for my hand. My therapist asked me to do a few exercises...
1) Massaging of my lower arm
2) Gripping & releasing of hand
3) Moving my wrist up & down
4) Moving my elbow up & down
5) Stretching of my left shoulder
Before the end of the session, the therapist actually measured the angles of the movement of my joints of my wrist & elbow that i was able to reach. For my wrist, i was able to move up to only 33 degrees & down to 55 degrees when normally pple can move to 90 degrees each. For my elbow, normal pple can move a total of 150 degrees but i only could move up to 90+ degrees and down to 30+ degrees. Hopefully, these exercises could help me reduce my swolleness & improve on my recovery.
( It did actually! haha! now my hand is sooooo much better le! not as swollen le!)28 Dec 06

The First day of 2007. Went to Westmall with my parents & sis to buy a new computer & to upgrade the modem. Set up and installed the next day.
Today (3 Jan 07)
My
Second therapy session and dressing today. My arm and hand can say is not swelling le. The theraphist asked me to do a few more exercises mainly for my elbow & shoulder as it seems more stiffed than my wrist & fingers. i finally can hold a full grip for my hands le!
And of cos, the measurements for my wrist & elbow are a lot better le. For my wrist, i could move up to 60+ degrees (30 degrees more than the previous time) & down to 85 degrees (almost perfect le). For my elbow, i could move up to 110+ degrees (20+ degrees more) & down to 18 degrees (almost perfect to 0 degree le). Yippie!
